History

Born in La-Roche-en-Ardenne and developed and refined in Ghent, this hoppy beer combines Walloon passion and Flemish perseverance. An exceptional Belgian product that owes its name to a Flemish and a Walloon Belgian. Independently of each other, they had the same inspiration. So they named the youngest descendant of the Belgian beer paradise… L’Arogante. More Belgian you can’t get!

The idea of brewing a new beer started to ferment in a cosy pub in La Roche-en-Ardenne. A Flemish (Leslie) and a Walloon Belgian with a shared passion: tasting and brewing good beer. The first steps in the brewing process were then taken in a garage in the Ardennes, and the hoppy recipe was further developed and refined in Leslie's garage in Ghent. And so, L’Arogante was born. A merger of La Roche-en-Ardenne and Ghent, the best of what our country has to offer ... Definitely a unique new beer that will undoubtedly find its place in the vast Belgian beer landscape because ... More Belgian you can’t get ...

Two friends of the original brewer, not coincidentally from Ghent and La-Roche-en-Ardenne (Pedro and Nicolas), with a shared passion for Belgian Burgundian cuisine, discovered L’Arogante and immediately succumbed to its enticing taste and aromatic palette

They were passionate about giving this beer the place it deserves in the legendary Belgian gastronomy. Along with professional chefs, they blended its pleasantly bitter and hoppy aromas with the flavours of Belgian cuisine, because ... A greater taste you can’t get ...

Our beer was brewed with light malt types that gave it a blonde colour. The yeast and malt were selected to do justice to the delicate hops aromas. Three different types of hops gave the beer its characteristic bitterness and unique soft fruity aromas. It didn’t need extra spices. Arrogant as it is, it challenges you to taste and compare it with other beers, because ... It is just the most exceptional...

In order to let more people enjoy L’Arogante, we cooperated with the Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, a stone’s throw away from Ghent. This choice was not by chance. Not only do this brewer have the same passion for beer as the designer of L’Arogante, he is also fascinated by the technology of the brewing process and the biochemical reactions that underlie the taste and aroma development in beer.
The brewery laboratory specializes in sophisticated hops analyses and has justly acquired world-renown in this field.

So it comes as no surprise that we have entrusted the Proefbrouwerij with the proper care of our teenager. Because it’s hoppy, challenging character will be its greatest asset when it takes its first steps into the big Belgian beer world. In close consultation, the designer of L’Arogante, himself a bio-engineer, and the Proefbrouwerij perfected the recipe so that beer lovers’ taste buds will be tantalised by an amazing taste and aroma pallet time after time. Because I’m the most challenging.

The distribution points were carefully chosen. This quality product after all needs to be handled and served with appropriate care. Proper storage at low temperature and protection from light are essential to preserve L’Arogante’s unique flavours and aromas. Le ciel houblonné advises you to taste the beer within nine months after bottling to ensure you enjoy the hops aroma to its fullest. Even the glass was selected to accentuate L’Arogante’s hoppy character. For I am the hoppiest, …and you should taste it!
