Historic :

This beer is connected to the St. Bernard Abbey and carries the label Recognized Belgian Abbey Beer since 1999. Originally, this beer brewed by Brewery from 1957 to Beirens Wommelgem. When this brewery goes bankrupt in 1971, the fathers of Bornem reach an agreement with the current brewery. Originally there was St. Bernard Abbey beer Bornem on labels but to avoid confusion with St. Bernard of Watou is marked St. Bernard removed.   The label is a heron with a fish in its mouth. Herons are common birds in the area around Bornem. Wear different catering establishments "heron" in the name and the local museum in Weert, a borough of Bornem, called "The Egret".
