Our story

The "I" in Beer I Like, that's Lies. Lies writes in her brewing booklet what she likes. For example, it sounds like: “I want a blond brown beer, not too bitter, with a nose of flowers and fruit. Something to drink on a terrace. Good with a steak, but minus the gluten. ” And she goes there with Pieter.

Brewing is a bit like a good marriage
Or at least with Lies and Pieter. Because Lies knows where to go with the taste, but it is Pieter who determines the brewing style and the alcohol percentage. He opted for aromatic hop in a triple, a question of getting the alcohol percentage high enough for a hearty dish, but with a bouquet that remains subtle enough not to blow anyone over on a terrace in the sun.

Tasting and adjusting until it is completely I Like
Between the brushes, shovels and racks in the garage is a compact Grainfather brewing installation with which Pieter brews, lagers and yeasts a first batch of 20 liters. He studied for it, as a qualified zythologist, although brewing mainly involves tasting, adjusting, adjusting and starting over, if necessary about eight times.

From the recipe to the bottle, gluten-free
Because with 20 liters of beer it is difficult to let the world taste your creation - and because a garage is not a brewery - the recipe goes to BeerSelect as soon as it is ready. They brew a larger batch and put the crown cap on our work.

Belgian
Belgian and beer, that alliterates for a reason. Sure, they also make decent triples in Norway or IPAs in Spain. In the meantime, they are already experimenting with spontaneous fermentation in the United States. But with us that beer is still baked a little deeper.

World beer
Beer has been running through our veins here for centuries. Belgian beer culture has always been more diverse and richer than that of other countries, which is why it is so loved and honored. Our beer culture is so special that UNESCO promptly put it on the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list. A proud title for a piece of Belgium that we can be proud of. Because we have been brewing that for centuries.

People drink beer here
Our mastery and our extensive range, we have been building this since the Middle Ages. It is not so long ago that abbeys brewed for themselves, farmers ran their own kettles for the summer months and mothers preferred to serve table beer rather than water.

No more, but better
Beer is something noble to us. Something that is poured with care, with a clean foam head and in the right glass. You understand that we do not go over lightly if we decide to add a beer to that extensive Belgian menu. Beer I Like, that is also a matter of respect for our beer heritage.
