Tilquin Oude Pinot Noir à l'ancienne 2019-2020 75cl Tilquin Oude Pinot Noir à l'ancienne 75cl
  • Taste:
  • Classic Tilquin house nose with some gooseberry and mineral notes alongside a nice jolt of wild, young strawberry and plum. As it warms the plum really stands out. Tannic on the palate, with good tartness, earthy mineral notes and more plum. Blueberry skins, red grape skins really stand out. Coating, dry, tannic finish that lingers with wild strawberry and blueberry that lingers. Some light oak in there as well. Just another fantastic beer from Tilquin.

The Oude Pinot Noir Tilquin à l’ancienne is made from the fermentation of 350 gr of Pinot Noir grapes by liter of lambic. Unfiltered and unpasteurized, this beer is refermented in the bottle. The Pinot Noir grapes are coming from the Valentin Zusslin Estate, cultivated in biodynamic viticulture and harvested by hand on their Bollenberg vineyard. This special cuvée was developed at the occasion of the 10 year anniversary of the Moeder Lambic Original.

The Gueuzerie Tilquin began operations in February 2009. It was 12 years that a new gueuze-producer had emerged in Brabant (the previous was Geuzestekerij De Cam in Gooik, which began in 1997).

The Gueuzerie Tilquin is the first gueuze blendery in Wallonia. The company is located in Bierghes (Rebecq), 200 meters from the linguistic border, and is directed by Pierre Tilquin. Pierre is bio-engineer and holder of a PhD in statistical genetics. He then followed an intensive course in brewing science in Leuven, and he had his experience at the brewery Huyghe (Melle), 3 Fonteinen (Beersel) and Cantillon (Anderlecht).

Installed in Bierghes in the Senne valley, the Gueuzerie Tilquin is the only gueuze blendery in Wallonia. A gueuzerie, or Geuzestekerij in Dutch, is an enterprise where Gueuze à l’ancienne (or Oude Geuze) is blended.

Freshly brewed worts  are purchased from different producers in the region (Payottenland and Brussels), and pumped in oak barrels  for fermentation and ripening, during 1, 2 or 3 years. The lambics obtained are blended and bottled to give, after 6 months of refermentation, the Gueuze Tilquin à l’ancienne.
